Advisory Board
The Purpose of the Down Syndrome Guild's Advisory Board is to:
- Minimize oversight & provide accountability
- Raise money
- Serve as advocates
- Serve as ambassadors to the community
- Monitor specific programs
- Provide technical assistance
- Serve as a liaison to key constituencies
- Provide a corps of outside experts
- Review applications for funding
- Get new perspectives and create diversity
The Education Advisory Board provides advice and direction on educational issues ensuring that the DSG makes a positive impact on the education of students in the Southeast Michigan area.
The Medical Advisory Board will provide health care professionals with practical tools and best practices with regard to presenting a diagnosis of Down syndrome. This may include:
- Raising the awareness of health care professionals on how their personal attitudes and beliefs may impact the family and the child.
- Informing health care professionals about local and national resources on Down syndrome
- Informing and educating doctors, nurses and other health care professionals on the medical and developmental needs of children with Down syndrome

An Advisory Board member serves a two-year term. Members may serve consecutive terms with no limits. The number of members of the group shall be no more than 15.
